Chiang Mai Countryside Adventures

Get away from the tourist crowds and discover the incredible countryside that surrounds Chiang Mai!

With your local guide leading the way, you’ll explore quiet villages, taste incredible local food and experience the traditions of rural Thailand. 

Start at the iconic Tha Phae Gate, taking time to snap some photos of your stylish Vespas before setting off on our countryside tour! Sit back and enjoy the views as your driver navigates the winding lanes and idyllic backroads. Pull over for a visit to a farm house where you will learn about the crops grown in this area and the traditional techniques used by farmers. 

Hop back on to the Vespas and continue to a one-of-a-kind cafe. More than just selling coffee and juices, this cafe is also home to an elephant conservation project. You’ll come nose-to-trunk with these gentle giants, a unique opportunity to interact with healthy, happy elephants in their natural environment. 

Please note, on Monday’s the elephant sanctuaries in Chiang Mai countryside are closed. For tours on Mondays, we will instead visit a workshop making recycled products out of elephant dung.  

Your Chiang Mai Vespa tour continues with a scenic ride to tropical flower gardens, a project that supports the ethnic minority groups of Thailand. After a short stroll among the lush landscapes, sit down for a delicious lunch of local dishes.

The adventure is not over yet! After lunch, continue along another beautiful road as we make our way to a hilltop Buddhist temple. Take a stroll around this temple, mingling with local worshippers and soak up the panoramic views of Chiang Mai from a vantage point few tourists know about.  It’s then back onto the Vespas for one last exhilarating ride as we coast back downhill to the city center.

Experience the exotic culture and explore the quieter lanes and surrounding areas of this fascinating city riding pillion on our stylish Vespas.

From the iconic Tha Phae Gate, we ride through a labyrinth of narrow lanes and winding, historic streets in the old city before the scenery opens up around us on picturesque forest lined roads.

We head up to the top of the hill, where we reach a very famous & prominent temple, whose origins date back to the 7th century. Perched on the top, there is a serene Buddha statue that overlooks the beautiful countryside and we can absorb the culture and surroundings as we take in these incredible city and mountain views.

It’s back on the Vespas for an exhilarating ride downhill to an art & craft village in a cool garden setting. There’s a real community feel and a bohemian, laid back vibe where we mix with the hip and interesting locals and artisans. Next up, it’s a change of pace as we experience the bustle of Chiang Mai’s largest and most famous market where we can try the exotic local produce and fully embrace the chaotic Thai market experience & customs.

Finally, it’s on to one of Thailand’s most stunning temples which had a spectacular makeover at the turn of this century by local silversmiths. It’s a truly incredible sight and a great photo opportunity where we finish our adventure by enjoying a light local lunch. Let our guides give you an unique local’s insight into Chiang Mai.

On the back of the Vespas, we’ll zip through a maze of backstreets and residential neighborhoods of Chiang Mai. Your local guide leads the way to a vibrant restaurant tucked away from the tourist trail, where we’ll tuck into tasty treats and a welcome drink while rubbing elbows with the locals. Ride on through the streets of the city to a small shop where you’ll tie on an apron for a hands-on food experience, learning to make a beloved northern Thai dish. 

Back on the Vespas, our Chiang Mai night tour continues to the banks of the Ping River, a lively area lined with bars and restaurants. We’ll pop into a local favorite for a tasting menu of different Thai dishes, enjoying a variety of flavors while overlooking the water. Our Vespa Adventures tour wraps up with a nightcap at a live music bar, where Chiang Mai’s best local talent plays nightly to an enthusiastic crowd.
